A spacious modern home with pool and guest house provided a good floorplan and terraced site within which to make design inflections throughout to reflect the new owners’ specific needs and tastes.
A fully renovated kitchen and master-bedroom suite deepen the commitment to a modernist language, but the changes to the living room provide a defining set piece. The original two story divided window wall was replaced with a custom steel framed double-height window and door, whose angled vertical mullions fold into a transparent parallax plate that both echo the swaying stand of Cypress trees within view at the property’s edge and reach above to celestial realms.
Adjacent to the complexity of the window, a minimal custom metal frame for the fireplace simplifies the interior landscape. Revised window geometries at the family room and master bedroom combine with newly framed views at the living room to thoroughly engage the house with its beautiful site.
