WSU Agri-tech Incubator Complex
A G R I – C U L T U R A L
Initial Bldg. Design & Construction; 50,000 sf
Washington State University, Pullman, WA
Winning competition entry to masterplan a 450,000 sf multi-bldg. research and technology park designed to encourage collaborative, entrepreneurial formation of private/public, WSU-related, agri technology companies.
The masterplan developed by BantaDESIGN for the WSU agri-tech research park created a pedestrian network of pathways and gardens that encouraged individual circulation between eight separate, flex-space buildings to form a personal community of researchers and scientists. The initial building design recapitulated the masterplan in a sequence of linked pathways with framed gardens at each terminus that relate to the vast, rolling landscape of the regional Palouse. Daylighting through skylights and clerestories, with south-facing sunshades helps reduce cooling loads.
