Concept for apt./office tower with penthouse studios
New construction concept, 100,000 sf, Dublin, IRL
An international competition to design a landmark tower structure in Dublin as home for the band U2 gave us the opportunity to explore new arrangements of space and envelope. We atomized the office/music studio program into different shaped enclosures all suspended within an L shaped transparent envelope superstructure that rested on a contrasting opaque masonry residential tower.
The ground level of the narrow lot was filled with a commercial shopping pedestal and underground parking. The resulting yin/yang composition provided a building type easily cross ventilated and passively heated by means of an unforgettable sculptural form.
