New warehouse/retail/office HQ for crafts importer New construction, 4,000 sf, Berkeley, CA
The project started out as a low cost live/work duplex that was ultimately acquired by an importer of South American craft goods to become their headquarters and retail outlet.  Simple wood frame construction with metal wall panels for exterior cladding and a basic membrane roof were fashioned into a memorable event with the introduction of curved aluminum guard rail bands at the balcony and a translucent plastic panel canopy over the entrance, supported by an asymmetrical truss.
