Pocket Graffiti Building

Renovation of a leather pocket factory to Live/Work Adaptive Rec use, 15,000 sf, Oakland, CA
We adapted a seismically challenged brick factory building slated for demolition by expanding its envelope to create 10 work/live spaces with adjacent surface parking. Our additions of a thick protecting wall at the street, and additional cantilevered floor area over a new steel support beam enhanced the size of the units while preserving original brick walls with local graffiti and wood floor structure. High windows at each unit provide for ample daylighting and natural ventilation.
